We’re Hannah and Martin, the founders of Yorkshire Edible Flowers.
We started selling our range of edible flowers in 2021, and we’re really excited to be expanding our range of produce in 2022. We’ve spent the last couple of years learning as much as we can about the exciting part of the culinary and horticultural world that is edible flowers, and we were thrilled to be able to provide our customers with a range of vibrant and exciting ingredients in our first year.
Now we are going further, preparing to launch a veg box scheme, and making our flowers available in bouquets and putting them on sale to florists and domestic customers. We’re really excited to be providing seasonal British flowers and vegetables to our community in the north of Doncaster, and country-wide through our online store.
Our edible flowers are an extensive range of plants suitable for both sweet and savoury dishes. Some have a distinctive flavour of their own. Others will make an impact as the centrepiece on a cake, or as the finishing touch to a salad or main. We think that all of them will give your food a vibrant final flourish to draw the eye and make your plates look enticing and professional.
Commitment to Sustainability
We are constantly learning about how to make our crops and our business as sustainable as we can, and we strive to produce all our plants at minimum expense to the environment. We don’t use any pesticides and we’re enjoying continuing to research how we can do the best for our soil without using synthetic chemical inputs. We have a strong commitment to biodiversity on our farm, and are excited about returning these fields to production after decades of their not being farmed.
We are both very keen cooks and growers, and are trying to grow (and eat!) more and more of our own produce. So we really hope that we will be able to share our recipes and tips with our customers, and that you will share yours with us too.
